Harry, his name was. "Kirschoff is close to the bottom of the ladder." Dr. Kildare rushed over to the ladder and made her way down. Kenny nodded to Harry, telling him to go down, and then he followed. Kenny was in a silent mood ever since he saw the body of that woman on Deck Five charred, but he was not going to let that control him; He had people to save. He swung his medi kit around his shoulder so it was ageist his back and made is way down the dark room. As he followed Dr. Kildare and Harry, he turned his head to look over his shoulder. He could hear a console sparking and a few lights flicked on and off. Once he got down on the ground, the part of the lab that was Deck Six, Dr. Kildare spoke to him. "McKenzie; Check out those two crewmen there. While I try and stabilise this patient." she said as she used her torch to indicate the two people. Kenny nodded and walked over to the two men. He saw that one was nurturing his arm, and the other had a cut on his head, and was trying to stop the bleeding. Kenny placed his medi-kit on the floor and opened it. He thought that he would check the man with the head injury first as it was more likely to be fatal than the other mans. He took out his tricorder and scanned the man with the head injury. "You have a small cut on your head, it'll hurt like hell, but I don't think it's serious. I'll close it with a dermal regenerator and give you some anaprobaline to stop the pain." The man nodded. "Right; hold on while I check this man out." Kenny said. Kenny scanned the other man. The tricorder told him that his arm was broken, but nothing about it seem serious. "You have a broken arm. That's not as serious as your college’s injury. I want to deal with his wound first." Kenny turned back to the man with the head injury. He took out some cleaning clothes and wiped the blood from the man’s head, and placed the blood-soaked cloth on the ground. Then he took out the dermal regenerator and passed it over the man’s wound. Slowly, the wound closed and Kenny put the dermal regenerator back in the medi-kit and took out a hypo-spray and filled it with a small canister of anapropaline. The man turned his head so Kenny could reach the man's neck and Kenny injected him. "The wound will be sensitive for a while, try not to touch it." Kenny shimmied over to the other man. He was unsure how to treat a broken arm. He tried to remember the training his mum gave him. She was a doctor in his hometowns' medical centre in Scotland, and she thought it was important that he know something about medicine. He knew about keeping a broken limb in a case, but he could not think of how to make one here, and he doubted if the replicators where online. As he was thinking this, the lights came on and most of the consoles came back to life. Kenny sighed. It looked like people around the ship where doing everything they could to repair the damage. It made Kenny feel less alone, knowing that the ship was still working. Kenny looked around to see the room; a lot of it was damaged. Consoles where blown open, beams had fallen and there was a lot of dust and debris around. "How are you doing over there?" Dr. Kildare called out. "Umm. I could use some help, Dr." She walked over and helped the man with the broken arm over to the ladder. "I'm unsure how to treat a broken arm, Dr." Kenny said. Tom Jackson - 2116) Tom Jackson had just spoken with Alex Turner in Engineering. He and the others with him had been asked to check the EPS Power Conduit chips in the area near their current location. Motioning to Jason Miller , Tom explained what he wanted the two of them to do. "The process is simple. Use your tri-corder and make sure the circuit is dead. Replace the chip and let me know you are down. Once we've complted an entire section. we'll have engineeering power tha tsection back up" Tom concluded. (Reply: Miller) Working inside a Jeffries Tube was not one of Tom's favorite things. He was mad as the chips he looked at were all bad and smacked, at least to him, of possible poor manufacturing or at worst, sabotage. Jackson made a mental note to pursue this after things calmed down some. Working slowly, but methodically they made the changes and exitde the tubes. Jackson inidcated to Jason Miller to contact Engineering and test the areas they had just replaced. "Jason, have Enigneering test the areas we've replaced" Tom instructed. (reply: Jason) Tom and the others moved back and Toma t least crosse dhis fingers and hoped for the best. (posted by: Bill West) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 7, Near Security Centre – Yeoman Jason Miller – 2117) As Miller helped Carrow and Ripley tend to Lieutenant Trinin, the three of them did their best to warm the man up into a stable enough condition to be moved more readily. Carrow and Ripley had decided they would be of more use escorting the Lieutenant back to sickbay, and although Miller questioned that at first, he was in no position to insist that Lieutenant Carrow remain with them. After seeing them off down the corridor, Jason turned back to Tom Jackson. Jackson had just finished speaking with an engineer over the comm. system and was now motioning for him to approach. Jason was very uncertain how much further use he could actually be. “Lieutenant, I’m no engineer. I’ve never had to fix anything before, apart from schedules and appointments.” “The process is simple. Use your tricorder and make sure the circuit is dead. Replace the chip and let me know you are down. Once we've completed an entire section. We'll have engineering power that section backup” Jackson explained, trying to make it all sound very easy. With that, the two of them headed off to the nearest access tube and clambered inside. (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades - Deck 7, Corridor - A/COPS Lt. Tom Jackson - 2120) Tom smiled as power and lighting shimmered back on line. Turning to Jason Miller Tom suggested " Let's hunt down some chow - I don't know about you but I am starved". (posted by Bill West) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 7, Corridor – Yeoman Jason Miller – 2121) After about 5 minutes of climbing in the tubes, Jason was surprised at how quickly they had managed to finish their section. A couple of calls to Ensign Turner in Saucer Engineering had revealed that more members of the OPS and Engineering staff had joined the task at hand, and what had initially been quite a large area for Jason and Tom to cover, turned out to be quite a short run of sections. Jackson then indicated toward Jason, seemingly happy at the results they had seemingly achieved. “Jason, have Engineering test the areas we've replaced.” With a nod, Miller tapped his comm. badge and was on to Ensign Turner in a flash. Luckily for them, Turner had managed to have some sort of signal monitoring system in place and could tell at once that the sections they had repaired were ready to go live when the command was given. As power flickered through some of the conduits, proof that their repairs had been successful, Jackson grinned happily and said, “Let's hunt down some chow - I don't know about you but I am starved.” Jason screwed his face a little, “I’m not very hungry actually. I think I might head back to see what I can salvage from Administration.” Jackson gave him a look that made him feel a little guilty, so he added, “But I suppose I could come with you and keep you company.” (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades - Deck 7, Mess Hall - A/COPS Lt. Tom Jackson - 2122) Jason and Tom walked slowly - each tired. Jackson was not sure but the Mess Hall seemed likely to have something edible that did not require the use of a replicator. Those might still be off-line. They entered the facility and looked around - some injured crew were there but the ship's cook, a Talaxian named Trelix, approached Toma and Jason handing each a mug containing a strong, steaming stew-like substance. Trelix looked beat as they all did. "Trelix, how are you my friend?" Tom asked. Tom had met the Talaxian when he was working on a Ferengi merchant vessel years ago. The two had become friends and managed to stay in contact over the next few years. "Ah Thomas my friend - and how are you?" Trelix asked. Seeing Tom looking dirty and a bit disheveled. Grinning a bit Jackson replied "Other that feeling like a Klingon had beat the crap out of him. Thanks for the stew. Slapping his head and muttering (in Ferengi) Tom realized he had forgotten to introduce Jason. "Trelix, I forgot to introduce my partner here - this is Jason Miller. Jason this is my friend Trelix". (reply Jason IYW) The two men exchanged greetings. Tom excused Jason and himself and went to sit against a nearby bulkhead. Looking at Miller, Tom spoke his thoughts "Jason you've been a great help - many thanks". (reply: Jason) Finishing up their meal, Tom decided he better check in and see what else was needed. Tapping his comm badge, T.J. asked what else they could help with. "Jackson to Commander Lemar, please come in". (reply Illustrious Leader IYW) "Tom Jackson here. Sir, we've completed the chip replacements in the EPS Conduits. Is there anything else you need help with?". Jackson waited d a reply. (Posted by: Bill West) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 7, Messhall – Yeoman Jason Miller – 2124) Miller was a little uncertain if Jackson knew where he was going, but when they finally stepped into the messhall he was relieved. No sooner had they entered had a waiter of some description approached them and thrust a large steaming mug of something into their hands. As Jackson started up conversation with the man, Miller decided to take a look around and find a seat. There were many people present, and Miller only recognised a handful. Most supported some kind of injury, and everyone looked worn out in some fashion. Suddenly, Jason’s attention was drawn back to Jackson and his friend. “Trelix, I forgot to introduce my partner here - this is Jason Miller. Jason this is my friend Trelix.” Not wanting to appear rude, despite the fact he didn’t really want to be here, Jason smiled and said hello. Shortly after, Jackson excused them both and they moved to a nearby bulkhead, where they sat and ate their meal. Jackson and Miller talked very little. Miller was uncertain of what to say to the man, not knowing him very well – which was unusual for him. He was normally very chatty and very friendly. Maybe it was because he was tired, or maybe it was because he wanted to go and find Jonas. Whatever the reason, Jason was trying his best to try and look like he wanted to be here. “Jason you've been a great help - many thanks.” Jackson spoke his mind. “Hey, don’t worry about it. Glad I could help out.” Jason finished up his stew, and within a few minutes Jackson had done the same. It had been a pleasant meal, which had not surprised Jason. With the replicators being off line, it was clearly home-cooked. It had been a good while since he had tasted real cooked food. After he had finished his stew, Jackson tapped his comm. badge and said, “Jackson to Commander Lemar, please come in.” =^= Yes Mister Jackson =^= came a short response over the comm. system. “Tom Jackson here.” Tom repeated, “Sir, we've completed the chip replacements in the EPS Conduits. Is there anything else you need help with?” =^= Yes Lieutenant, we see that. =^= There appeared to be an audible sigh before the commander added, =^= I suggest you speak with Lieutenant Maraht about further duties =^= (reply: Maraht, Jackson) Miller took that opportunity to make his exit. “Well, thanks for the meal Lieutenant. I really think I better be going now though.” (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades - Deck 7, Mess Hall - A/COPS Lt Tom Jackson - 2125) Tom felt better after the hot meal. Jason Miller seemed antsy. Jackson thanked Jason for his help. T.J. contacted the bridge and asked if there were anything else they could help with. Jason saw his chance to leave and go look for his boss and made good his escape. - Commander Lemar 'suggested' Jackson contact Lt Maraht and see what the OPS chief needed done. "Understood Commander - Jackson out". Om felt like he was a cadet again at the Academy. Flushing red yet again, Tom re-tapped his comm badge and asked Maraht what he needed done. "Lt Jackson to Lt Maraht - please come in" (reply: Lt Maraht) "Tom Jackson here Maraht - we've completed the repairs we were tasked with - have anything else for us?" Tom asked. (reply: Lt Maraht) Tom listened as Maraht outlined what needed to be done. Maraht, please come in.=/\= "Yes Lt. Jackson. This is Maraht. Go ahead." =/\=Tom Jackson here, Maraht. We've completed the repairs we were tasked with. Have anything else for us?=/\= "Yes Lt. Jackson. You and the other repair teams have done very well in a difficult situation. There is certainly plenty more to do," said Maraht. "Now that we have main power back, I'd like for you to take a close look at the power distribution levels for the emergency force fields on Decks 5 and 6. Right now those are a priority. We don't need those to fail in another difficult situation. We need to make sure they are solidly in place so Engineering teams can do what they can to replace the missing bulkheads." (Reply Tom Jackson IYW) "Some of that may take stopping at another starbase when this Mission is over. In the meantime, I will await your assessment for you to give Engineering the go ahead to do what they can. Let me know when you do. For now the worst of that area has been set up with bypass circuits by Lt. Wilson to circumvent any difficulties, except for the force fields. The area needs to be as safe as we can make it for them as Counselor Nayati and other rescuers told me of dangerous electrical arcs occurring from live conduits and cables becoming partially disconnected. Those will need assessed and safely reconnected as well once your force field power assessment is done. Meet with the repair team headed up by Engineer Lt. Wilson on Deck 5 in section 4." (Reply Tom Jackson) (Posted by Jim McCrary for Sheila Mayer) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 1, Main Bridge – HO Lieutenant Finlay Guarastine – 2132) Luckily for Finlay, she hadn’t had to do much more climbing after she had reach the impulse engine control room. Initially, she had planned to keep an eye on things from there, even control the ship should she be so ordered to do so, but when the lights came back on she had decided to take a chance at the turbolifts and make her way to the bridge. As she called the cab, the doors had opened to reveal Wendy Kildare – the assistant chief medical officer. As she had been heading to the bridge too, they had shared the cab for the duration of the trip. Finlay hadn’t really gotten the chance to get to know the doctor, having only spent a matter of weeks onboard. To be honest, she didn’t really seem like the type she would normally befriend. According to the ships grape-vine, she was dating the First officer, or they were officially joined in some fashion. She didn’t really know for certain – she had never thought to ask, never really been in a situation to ask. When they entered the bridge, Doctor Kildare and Commander Lemar enjoyed a short reunion, and with a smile to herself, Finlay had slid around the edge of the bridge and made her way back to her console. Lowering herself into the seat, she looked over at Maraht. “You keeping things together up here Lieutenant?” (reply: Maraht IYW) Taking a look at her now operational console, she ran a quick diagnostic of the control systems and took a glance at the status report on the engines from Engineering. As the brief diagnostic completed it’s cycle, she was pleased to note that she had no damage to her console, or at least none that she had noticed. ~Maybe Maraht has done some repairs to it~ she thought, knowing that he had been poking around inside the main forward console that she shared with the OPS chief. “Engines are online and responsive.” She looked over at Maraht and smiled, then looked back to the viewscreen and asked, “Shall I resume course, sir?” “Yes Lieutenant, resume course - and speed if possible” replied the Commander before turning his attention elsewhere. “Yes sir, resuming course and speed.” Finlay’s hands danced at her controls. Activating the impulse engines, she began to thrust the ship forward. Once there was sufficient momentum for her to be happy, she called for the warp engines to be activated. In less than 5 seconds, the warp bubble was created, stabilised, and in a burst of energy, the USS Hades dove back into warp speed. (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 10, Corridor – SO Lieutenant Tarus Daban – 2133) Since the Captain had been transported to Sickbay, Tarus had spent only a little bit of time clearing debris from the body of Ambassador Nolan. He had arranged for the body to be transported to the Morgue, via a similar method to that used to transport the Captain, and shortly after that, several other teams had arrived on the scene to both assist with damage control and repair. Tarus had taken that chance to gather the few members of his team and get to deck 10. Paris Kolar and Brianna Frazier had been reported to be in Ten Forward, and so far there was no sign of Raizel Grem, the final member of the diplomatic team. She was not anywhere on deck 5, nor was she in any obvious places on deck 10. So they would just have to wait for internal sensors to come back online before they could find where she had gotten to. The team had marched in silence down the corridors. They had limbed the access tubes in silence, back down to deck 10, and they had walked in silence again, on their way through the corridors of deck 10 on the way to Ten Forward. Just as Tarus as beginning to wonder about the next training session for his extraction team, the comm. badge on his chest sounded. =^= T'Sol to Tarus =^= With a light tap he replied, “Tarus here. How are things Ensign?” He turned his head slightly to notice that the other three members of his team were smirking to each other. He wasn’t entirely certain what was so funny, but he was certain he would find out in good time. =^= Commander Lemar has requested the presence of Ambassador's Aide Frazier in the ready Room before 2140 hours. See to it immediately =^= Tarus raised an eyebrow, but that was the limit of his reaction. He found the Vulcan method of command very interesting. Had he been any less disciplined, he might have taken offense to her ordering him about like she was, but she likely didn’t intend to come across aggressively, so he said nothing of it. “I’m just heading to Ten Forward now. I will escort her there personally.” =^= Very good T'Sol out =^= As Tarus approached the glass doors to Ten Forward he looked over his shoulder and said to the smirking security officers, “Something funny?” He gave the other officers a look that dared them to actually tell him what they were looking at, but the smiles on their faces soon dropped. Obviously, whatever they were joking about was not fit for his ears – at least not while he was in the mood he looked like he was in. Tarus snorted, then looked forward again as he stepped through the doorway and into Ten Forward. (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades - Deck 1, Main Bridge - ACSO Ensign Kenneth McKenzie - 2134) Kenny and Wendy stepped off the turbo lift and onto the bridge. Kenny was happy with that. He half expected the turbo lift to stop mid-journey and that he would be stuck there for hours. As the stepped out, a man's voice called out; "Wendy! I'm glad you’re alright!" the man said. It took Kenny a few moments to realise it was Commander Lemar. He remembered seeing him in the crew roster of the Hades that he was given before he came on. "I'm fine. Which is more than I can say for any others..." The three of them fell silent for a moment. "If you are not in need of my services, I will head back to sickbay. They might need me there." continued Wendy. "Yes. The Captain's condition is quite critical. You better get there as quickly as you can." said Commander Lemar. He looked at Kenny; His face told him that he was trying to think who he was. Seeing this, Wendy pulled Kenny over beside her. "This is Ensign Kenneth McKenzie. I found him lurking in the sickbay." She said. Kenny stood to attention. "Assistant Chief Science Officer, Ensign Junior Grade, Kenneth McKenzie reporting for duty, Sir!... An hour late." He smiled, trying to lighten the mood. "A pleasure to meet you Ensign. I'm afraid we're a little busy right now, but if you can man a Science Station, see what you lean from that console over there. Once we get settled, we can get hold of the quartermaster and see about getting you somewhere to call your own." "Aye, Sir." He walked over to where the Commander pointed and was confused when he saw what he thought was a rock near his station. It took him a few moments to see that small tentacles where emerging from the "rock" and was pressing buttons on the console. Kenny realised that this "rock" was alive. He knew about different species in the Federation, but he had never seen a non-humanoid alien before. As he approached his console, he could not stop staring at the "rock". Not out of disgust or fear, but out of pure curiosity. Knowledge was the reason he joined Starfleet. To learn about all he could about the universe. This was the greatest incident he ever saw. He wanted to ask questions about this being, but knew that the time was not right now. He felt a little guilty; He didn't want to treat this life form as an experiment, but he could not help being curious about the creature. He decided to get to work and access some more info on the Hades to see what he could learn. (Posted by Gavin Work) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 10, Ten Forward – SO Lieutenant Tarus Daban – 2135) As he entered, the first thing he noticed was how ‘untouched’ the room looked to be. No upturned tables or chairs, and aside from a few empty glasses on the bar, Tarus might have thought that Ten Forward had been closed this afternoon. No sooner had he entered was Brianna Frazier on her feet and marching toward Lieutenant Tarus. ~About time!~ she thought to herself, he red curls falling freely all around her face. “Can I go back to my quarters now? I’m a little bored of the view from here.” She smiled at him, and with a flutter of her eyelashes she tried to work her womanly charms. ~Wrong person Miss~ thought Tarus to himself, completely unaffected by the attempts of the red-headed Betazoid. “I’m afraid not Ms. Frazier. Commander Lemar has requested your presence in the Ready Room.” He paused to allow her to respond to his news. She seemed to deflate a little, but after a brief sigh she seemed to give in to the ideal that she didn’t really have a choice. “If you’d like to follow me, I’ll escort you there myself.” As the Bajoran security officer smiled at her, Bree knew that it was pointless to resist. Clearly something was going on and she was soon to find out. “Lead on,” she said in submission, and promptly followed the officer out of Ten Forward. (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 1, Main Bridge – SO Lieutenant Tarus Daban – 2139) Tarus was pleased to find that the Turbolifts were actually working again. According to the computer, not all sections were accessible – including a large section here a cab had gotten stuck in an area affected by the hull breech, but the system was such that an alternative route could be taken for cabs to reach the bridge. As Tarus stepped out, he saw that the majority of the bridge appeared to be affecting some way. One console appeared to have been heavily damaged, and most others seemed to have had panels removed as minor repairs had taken place. Clearly the officers stationed here had been hard at work to regain control of the ships systems. Crossing the centre of the bridge, Tarus nodded politely to Lieutenant Ammon, who had taken up a position in the command chair. She seemed ever-so-slightly uncertain of her position there, but Tarus ignored that and continued on to the ready room, where Commander Lemar was no doubt waiting. Upon arrival, Tarus opened the door, and after a respectful nod inside to the Commander, he took a step back to allow Brianna Frazier to enter the room. She glanced at him briefly, a sarcastic smile on her face, then passed into the office. “I don’t really appreciate the security guard glued to my side” said Frazier just as the door closed behind her. Tarus inwardly sighed, a little glad he wouldn’t have to listen to the rest of the woman’s complaints about him. ~I’ve got better things to do than babysit her~ he thought, turned and taking up a guard position outside the Ready Room door. He tapped his comm. badge and said, “Tarus to Carlton. Take Ms. Kolar to see the quartermaster. We’re going to have to give our guests a new living space, at least temporarily. The VIP quarters on Deck 5 are likely to be without power for some time.” =^= Yes sir. We’ll head down there right away. =^= With a satisfied nod, Tarus stood at ease and continued to plan the rest of the day out in his head. He still had much to do, including his regular work-out session in the gym, although given this evenings events he wondered whether he really needed it. All that climbing through access tubes on ladders was hard work, even for a fit person like him. ~I guess I can give it a miss~ he thought, deciding instead to focus on the next training session for him and his men. (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Turbolift – SO Lieutenant Tarus & Ambassador Frazier – 2146) Tarus had not been kept waiting outside the Ready room for very long, and after just a few short minutes Brianna Frazier had exited the office and was making her way back to the turbolift. ~She’s obviously in a hurry~ he thought as he quickened his pace to catch up with her. When they had both entered, Brianna had ordered the turbolift to deck 3. “Where are we going?” asked Daban, hoping that Frazier wasn’t going to be trouble. Frazier smiled and replied, “I haven’t decided yet. I just thought Deck 3 was a good place to start.” She appeared much more at ease now than she had been previously. Was it simply because the Commander had given her some information she required, or was she pleased about something? Whatever the reason, she had lost that tone to her voice that said she was looking for an argument, and she back to being as soft and airy as usual. As the turbolift arrived at its destination, Frazier stepped out first, and Tarus Daban followed. After just a few metres, Tarus stopped still. “I’m not sure wandering the corridors is such a good idea, especially when the ship is still on alert.” He really didn’t want to have to escort Frazier everywhere. He had hoped they would be spending more time on the bridge, so he could get an idea of what was going on across the ship, and even better coordinate with the rest of the security teams. “Oh come on. I just need to clear my head, so I need to walk. Feel free to just wait here, I promise not to get myself into any trouble,” she said sarcastically, turning to continue walking. She was in a strange frame of mind. She had been thrust into the role of Ambassador, for better or worse. Half of her was distraught at the loss of Nolan, who had been her friend and mentor for so many months, but the other half of her was looking forward to the challenge, for the chance to shine without being in anyone’s shadow. With that, Tarus gave a small sigh, and set off to follow the Ambassador’s aide. At least he would be able to keep her out of trouble. (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 10, Sickbay – Crewman Denise Lebranksi - 2146) Denise didn't know why there was a physical tube sticking out of the captain dripping liquids out of his chest cavity, you'd think they'd have a *cleaner* and less icky way to do it in this day and age. But it wasn't like she spent a lot of time in sickbay. Of course, if the blue shirts had it their way she wouldn't be here now. She just glared at them until they went away. If they wanted her to move from beside the Captain's bedside, well, they could just call security and haul her out. She wasn't too worried on THAT score, however, since she knew security all had better things to do than drag a hissing and spitting Yeoman away from her CO. Oh, and she'd remind them of dragging a cat out of a tree if they tried to remove her.. and then they'd have to explain to the CSO why they had to stun a perfectly nice little crewman when all she was doing was keeping her critically injured captain company. Hmm, of course, Trinin might know her well enough to not buy the little miss sweet and innocent routine.. She could only hope Tarus Daban was the security officer in charge, T'Sol would DEFINITELY not buy the act. She'd just look at her in that Vulcan way and dismiss her. Pesky things Vulcans, unswayed by basic emotion and hormones. "You better get better." She threatened her Captain quietly, "You really don't want to know what happens if you don't!" The orderly, nurse, or whatever he was, came up to check on the drip tube gooky thing. "Don't you have work to be doing?" Denise smiled her pertest smile, "My last order was from the Captain telling me to attend him. He has yet to countermand that order." The blue shirt just sighed, made some notes and went back to the plethora of patients he had piled up. ~That's right, I'm not going anywhere! The Commander has a perfectly good Jason to help him.~ (Posted by Lorna) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 10, Sickbay – CMO Angeni O. Windsong-Trommashere - 2147) Angeni walked from her office, her head burried in the Captain's padd. She had assigned his information to a bright shiny red padd that never left her sight. She didn't need his status or medical information to get out before she had the oppertunity to speak with Lemar. Besides, it was not a legal battle she wanted to get into any time soon. A medic walked up to her, a look of confusion on his face. He stopped the haggard looking CMO, his voice holding a bit of a whine to it. "Ma'am...uhm...the Yeoman won't leave the Captains' side...I think you should make her leave...you can do that...right?" Angeni pinched the bridge of her nose, but she kept her voice calm and level. "Hrm...how about this...If a patient is approaching death, or there is a serious problem, I can fix that. If the Yeoman wants to stay there, she can for right now. Once we have to go in and remove the chest tube, replace his breathing tube and all that stuff...that's a different story. For now...she's fine." The medic sulked away, but she felt like the Yeoman was the least of her problems. Patients seemed to dribble in at what seemed like a never ending pace. She walked over to Sash's side, bending down to look at the containers that rested on the floor under a blanket. She worked silently, changing out every container with the same care and attention that she would to changing an infants' diaper. She heaved a deep sigh as she measured out all the canisters; the bleeding had stopped to being that of a healing body. A few minor clots had ruptured, but they were nothing more than a part of the healing process. Glancing to her side, she started jotting down notes as she spoke. "I hate to break it to you, but at some point I'm going to have to get you outta here. I have several procedures to do on the Captain..." (Reply Denise) Angeni nodded slowly, taking several deep breaths. A nagging ache on the left side of her chest had the ability to leave her breathless. "I apologize for the medics giving you such a hard time. We don't usually keep people long enough for visitors, and even when we do, they're moved over onto the other side of the bay. Unfortunately, I need to keep him front and center to monitor his outputs." As she spoke, the biobed started to alarm. She looked at the readout, then she pulled a hypo from her pocket, spraying the serum into him. As the bells and whistles died down, she walked to the Captain's feet, pulling out what looked like the travel sized version of a Medevil torture device. She ran the blunt end up the soles of his feet, and she nearly jumped for joy as she watched his toes curl inward, strictly reflex on the behalf of the human body. She did the same with the sharp pinwheel, and the same occured. She had to admit that she wasn't sure just how much he had left of higher brain function when he came in. He had probably not been pumping enough blood to fuel his brain and his heart and lungs all at the same time. It always amazed the young doctor how the body could survive even under the harshest conditions. She smiled towards the Yeoman, a tinge of happiness in her voice. "Looks like you'll be getting your Captain back, now...I hate to be rude, but I have some patients to see." With a small smile, she turned and went off, assessing her patients as she went. I have several procedures to do on the Captain..." "I had no plans on getting in the way of medical treatment." Denise replied, trying to sound respectful. She wasn't agreeing to leave, she could and would, however, get the hell out of the way as necessary. "I apologize for the medics giving you such a hard time. We don't usually keep people long enough for visitors, and even when we do, they're moved over onto the other side of the bay. Unfortunately, I need to keep him front and center to monitor his outputs." Denise had planned to respond, but all sorts of alarms sounded and she immediately jumped off her chair and dragged it away from the bedside to give the chief medical officer all the room she could need. She switched weight from foot to foot nervously as the doctor did her thing. She wanted to grab the woman and shake her and yell "FIX HIM!" If only it were so easy.. "Looks like you'll be getting your Captain back, now...I hate to be rude, but I have some patients to see." With a small smile, she turned and went off, assessing her patients as she went. Denise thanked her as she went off, and put herself and chair back with a frown. "I think, Captain, one of those patients should be herself. She looks walking wounded herself." She looked up at the man on the biobed, "By the way, you look like crap. When you get better we're going to have a serious conversation about stopping ship parts with your chest." He had been dubious of this... union with the federation to begin with. The Commander had wondered if the new Praetor had lost his mind at the mention of it. And now, part of the way across the neutral zone, they had decided to just stop. No, there was something more behind this, and he was determined to find out what it was. His orders had been to let the ship pass, unmolested. He intended to do that, but there was a far cry from interfering and investigating. This was, Rhian decided, a good enough reason to investigate. This Federation captain was plotting something and Rhian was determined to find out what it was. He ordered his ship to move in on the Federation ship at top speed. His new Valdore class ship was more than prepared for this Promethius class starship. It's new cloaking device was virtually undetectable by the standard methods that they have found the Federation ships using. If they had new, better technology, it was unknown to the Star Empire's intelligence corps. As the Donatra came into range, Rhian smiled mildly as his finger played over the command controls for the weapons. It would be so easy. Amazingly so. He wondered if these interlopers from the Federation were even worthy of being allowed in Romulan territory. He had expected so much more. Really, it was a little disappointing. Still, he had been ordered to be hospitable at their arrival so he supposed he should be so now. "Commander," it was the officer at the Operations station, "our sensor readings are showing that there has been an explosion inside the Federation vessel. There are several power fluctuations in their central power grid, and a hull breach. The rest of the ship seems undamaged." "Indeed," Rhian said with a raised eyebrow. "How intriguing. Decloak and hail the vessel. Federation vessel, this is Commander Rhian of the Romulan warbird Donatra, it seems you've had a mishap. Do you require assistance?" I hope this hasn’t put him off.” As he reached the bulkhead and peered out, he was pleased to once again see the sight of starts flashing past, a sure sign that they were back at warp speed. ~We’ve got some catching up to do~ he thought to himself, wondering if they would be able to increase speed to try and get back to their schedule. That’s when he spotted it. It was just a blur at first, out of the corner of his eye, but after a few seconds it was clear as crystal. “What the...” he started, not believing his eyes. Instantly, he whirled and darted toward the door. (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 1, Main Bridge – HO Lieutenant Finlay Guarastine – 2148.5) Having resumed their course and speed, Finlay calculated that they would be crossing over into Romulan Territory in just under five minutes. At the very thought, tiny hairs stood on end up and down her arms. It was like exploring a new sector of the galaxy, untouched by any before them – and in many ways it was an accurate analogy. They were making Federation history, and she was certain they would be doing everything they could to record every microsecond of it. As she moved to make a minor adjustment to the navigational controls, noting a gravity differential from a nearby star fluctuating, her proximity sensor began to flash a warning to her. “Sir...” she began, alerting Lieutenant Ammon to whatever this was. Before her eyes, the proximity alert changed shape on the sensors before her, and switched from an unknown anomaly to something for substantial. It was a ship, and of Romulan design no less. “Sir, a Romulan ship has just decloaked. They’re approaching from a bearing on 270 mark 39.” (reply: Ammon) Finlay watched as the clearly distinguished Romulan Valdore-Class warbird had matched their course and speed precisely, and was now holding a position parallel to them, on the port side. “They’re hailing us.” She made certain not to make any further course adjustments for the time being. Sending the Hades careering into the side of a Romulan ship at while at warp would not be the best start to the negotiations. Maraht and Guarastine were at their position at the forward console and Ensign McKenzie was still at the science console he had given to him a short while ago. “Report,” started Jonas, wondering how much his people knew – not to mention why he hadn’t been called to the bridge sooner. Ranae was just beginning to feel comfortable in the /big/ chair. She had noted Ensign Tarus Daban come on the Bridge and they had exchanged polite nods before he'd entered the Ready Room where the FO and Brianna Frazier were ensconced. Ranae was about to ask the CONN officer what the ETA was for arriving in Romulan Territory when Lieutenant Guaranstine spoke, getting her immediate attention with the slight note of urgency in her voice. "Sir..." pausing for a nanosecond before continuing, as she eyed her console, she continued. "Sir, a Romulan ship has just decloaked. They're approaching from a bearing on 270 mark 39." "On screen!" Ranae ordered and the screen sprang to life to reveal a Romulan Valdore-Class warbird materialized, matching the Hades course and speed precisely, and holding a position parallel to them, on the port side. "They're hailing us." "Let's hear it." Ranae replied promptly (not wanting to keep the Romulans waiting in case they thought something suspicious was going on. One thing Ranae knew about the Rommies was they were paranoid. =/\=Federation vessel, this is Commander Rhian of the Romulan warbird Donatra, it seems you've had a mishap. "A Romulan warbird has just de-cloaked out of the blue, Sir and is hailing us. I had communications opened and was about to inform you." He was only unsure as to why they hadn’t seen them any earlier. Giving a nod of thanks toward Lieutenant Ammon, Jonas turned and lowered himself in to the command chair. “Lieutenant Ammon, get back in touch with Lieutenant Tarus. I want Ms. Frazier back here right away.” (reply: Ammon) Jonas looked up at the viewscreen. The image of the warbird loomed centre screen. Coloured in dark greens and greys, the Valdore-class seemed a lot sleeker and slender than their larger counter-parts. This was the first time Jonas had the opportunity to see one in the field - A rare experience that he wasn’t certain that he was enjoying. “Lieutenant Maraht, let me hear their hail again.” (reply: Maraht) =^= Federation vessel, this is Commander Rhian of the Romulan warbird Donatra, it seems you've had a mishap. Do you require assistance? =^= Still looking at Maraht, Jonas said, “Open a channel, onscreen.” He waited a few moments to be given the ready signal from the Horta, and promptly a visual connection was established with the Romulan ship. Standing up and pulling down his jacket he replied, “This is Commander Lemar of the Federation starship Hades. Thank you so much for the offer, but we have everything under control.” Jonas knew that they were very close to the Romulan border, so the obvious question was, “Are you here to escort us to Romulus?” Lemar hoped that Frazier would hurry up and return to the bridge. He was fine with being the commanding officer, and communication with alien beings and fellow humans alike came with the territory, but he didn’t want to stay incidentally offend the Romulan by saying or suggesting anything untoward. T.J entered and sat himself at the console. He looked things over. While getting better - things were still not what they needed to be. Jackson looked over the readouts and sighed heavily. Structural Integrity fields, where activated, were barely holding on. He knew that a limited transporter capability existed. "Jackson to Engineering - what can OPS help you with?" he asked. (reply: any of our Engineering Experts) He listened to a very tired Engineer and made notes of what needed done. He looked over the OPS staff availability. They had not be too badly hit by injures. Jackson assumed Lt Maraht and he would do the lion's share of the bridge watches - probably 12 hrs on and off. He'd have to check with Maraht and see what he wanted done in that regard. Tapping his comm badge and contacted two OPS officers. "Ensigns T'ak and Braack - This LT Jackson. Please come in ". T.J. awaited their replies. =^= "T'ak Here Lieutenant " and a split second later he heard the Ferengi OPS officer Braack reply =^= "Braack here Sir =^= ". Tom smiled as he thought of the two officers. T'ak was a mix of Klingon and Human - fairly tall while Braack was Ferengi and short. Seeing the two together always reminded him of the cartoon characters Mutt and Jeff from old Earth. "I need the two of you to assist our Engineers with repairs. I'd report to Engineering ASAP - expect to work on maintaining structural integrity fields and Inertial Dampeners - but take your guidance from the Engineers - understood?" Tom added. =^= Understood=^= came the reply from the two officers. The comm link was closed and Tom sat back and thought. Jackson scanned the readings again - he wanted to devote energy to reinforcing the structural fields by sealing off any areas not deemed essential and using the energy from them. He'd need to coordinate with Engineering. Sighing, Tom dove into the multitude of tasks in front of him. Dismissing the Ensign who'd taken over when she'd been put in charge of the Bridge, she quickly changed the default settings to her own personal preferences as the Ensign stepped over to the secondary station and began working on it in an attempt to repair some of the extensive damage it had undergone. She had no sooner taken her station when Cdr. Lemar told her to contact Lieutenant Tarus to let him know the FO wanted Ms. Frazier on the Bridge right away. Ranae acknowledged and complied. "Ammon to Tarus, Commander Lemar requires Ms. Frazier's presence on the Bridge stat." (reply Tarus) "Lieutenant Maraht, let me hear their hail again." The FO requested. (reply: Maraht) Again the Romulan's message was heard and then the Commander had a channel opened and the screen activated. Ranae looked up at it to see a handsome but stern looking Romulan, as the FO stood up and introduced himself, then went on to politely turn down the offer of help as it everything was under control. ~Which is exactly what I would have told them.~ Ranae couldn't help but think. "Are you here to escort us to Romulus?" Lemar asked. ~He looks like he'd rather blow us all and the ship, to hades!~ Ranae watched the Romulan's eyes as he talked with the FO. The only feeling she got from watching him, was that he was only tolerating the presence of a Federation ship so close to Romulan territory because he had orders to do so. His eyes were hostile. Yet, some how, he had gotten back here this personnel quarters. ~Part of his NCR II survival instincts,~ Jon realized finally.. ~When injured or incapacited, return to your home cave, so you can first recover, heal and get ready to fight again, Grandfather of Spirits..Obviously he had accomplished doing that after Sickbay. Getting in touch with his inner biological systems, Jon looked down to survey his outer physical shell. He was undressed and in his quarters and covered up. An examination of logo covered bed showed it to have several small dried blood spots on it. Looking down, Jon saw the uniform that he had down to Deck 5 was crumpled in a somewhat blooded mess. Some of the blood that spotted his inform was human and possibly his, but other angry patches were clearly not. ~Obliviously these other blood strains belonged the various alien species he had tried to physically rescue. And failed,~ Jon thought with more an a touch real sadness.. ~If only I'd gotten there so,,,~ Jon stopped his thoughts mid-sentence. ~Faulty mind reading, guilty what-ifing and a case of PSTD waiting in the dark, gray wings of his heart and consciousness. Taking a couple deep cleansing breaths and holding the inhaled Paraná deep his powerful lungs, Jon cleared and quickly refocused his still somewhat unruly thoughts and feelings. He was still needed on the Main Bridge, Nolan was dead, Sash was serious screwed, there were cloaked Romulans in the wings. ~And NO One seemed to know where the increasingly furtive Aide Razed Grim was to be found,~ .Jon swore angrily. ~That was blinking nuts, We have the best in 25th century computer sensory tech, and we can't find one quiet, mousey and rather non-descript little aide, if that indeed was what she really was? . Angrily, Jon literally leaped off his bunk in single bound , ordered up a second uniform from stores and quickly began getting dressed for Bridge Duty. Even as he got rapidly dressed,. Jon barked out several definitely angry questions in rapid sensation to the apparently now functional Hades computer. " Computer, what is Hades' current ship's status?. He was of half a mind to give them a nudge to answer him when the reply to the hail finally came across. The main viewer came switched to the image of the human commander. =^=This is Commander Lemar of the Federation starship Hades. Thank you so much for the offer, but we have everything under control.=^= Rhian scowled at the response from the Hades. He wondered how having a hole in the side of the ship was having everything under control. He was fairly certain that it was not standard operating procedure to send a damaged vessel on such a diplomatic mission. However, he did not have time to respond to that as this Lemar pressed on. =^=Are you here to escort us to Romulus?=^= Rhian sighed. He wasn't about to be put off so easily. "That was not my intention, Commander. Is it possible for me to speak with your captain?" The commander shifted a little uneasily. =^=I'm afraid the Captain is indisposed right now. You can speak with me about any matters that might concern him.=^= He smiled, looking for a moment to his side as a woman joined him. ~Curiouser and curiouser.~ The scowl remained but Rhian's voice was as calm and steady as any politician's. "Indisposed? Indeed. Then perhaps I should speak with Ambassador Nolan." The commander opened his mouth to speak, then closed it again and looked to the woman at his side. She didn't take her eyes off Rhian as she said =^=I'm afraid Ambassador Nolan is also unavailable right now.=^= After a short pause she gave a friendly frown and a smile before adding, =^=I am Ambassador Frazier. By his record she was the assistant to the ambassador. Although she was good at trying to redirect him, he was not going to be put off. Still, he was not here to create an ... Incident. However, there are those who might see fit to delay your arrival even longer, if not permanently, so if you don't mind, we will escort you from this point forward." =^=Very well=^= stated the commander after a moment of hesitation. It was clear that he would prefer to be left alone. Then Frazier interjected with, =^=What my esteemed commander means to say is, we’d be most grateful for your escort=^= "Very well then, Ambassador," he emphasized the last word, "Commander Lemar, consider yourself escorted. You may want to consider having a Romulan delegate to be on your ship aswell. Donatra out." Maraht studied the main viewscreen and detected a handsome but stern looking Romulan, as the FO stood up and introduced himself, and then went on to politely turn down the offer of help as everything was under control. ~He certainly doesn't look very comfortable with us here.~ "Are you here to escort us to Romulus?" Lemar asked. Maraht got the distinct impression that the Romulan captain did not like them. This particular stalk's eyes were quite unfriendly. Maraht held still and tried to not quiver and be as unobtrusive as possible. Tarus frowned, never being asked his opinion on a woman’s hair before. “It looks ... fine?” he said, his tone going up slightly, almost turning the comment into a question. He wasn’t certain exactly how he should answer. It was one of those loaded questions, one that didn’t often have a correct answer. Rolling her eyes and shaking her head she smiled and said, “Useless. Never ask a man’s opinion.” With that, she turned briefly to look at herself in the shiny reflective surface of the access panel. Just then, the doors opened, and she straightened and stepped out with a composure that seemed as though it had always been there. Is it possible for me to speak with your captain?=^= ~Great!~ he thought to himself, shifting uneasily. ~I doubt even Starfleet know yet. The Romulans don’t need to know, not yet anyway~. After a short breath Jonas answered, “I'm afraid the Captain is indisposed right now. He smiled at her, thankful that she had arrived so promptly. =^=Indisposed? Indeed. Then perhaps I should speak with Ambassador Nolan=^= ~If I was a betting man...~ Jonas opened his mouth to speak, then closed it again and looked to Brianna at his side. He hoped that she would take this opportunity to take over the conversation. Jonas hoped this would be quick. He didn’t know how long he could put on a nice face to the clearly arrogant and condescending attitude of the Romulan. Bree looked directly at the screen from the moment of her arrival, up until this very point. She felt that good eye contact was key to such negotiations that could potentially turn hostile at any moment. At the commander’s hesitation, she took the chance to jump in. “I'm afraid Ambassador Nolan is also unavailable right now.” She looked over at Lemar only briefly, before looking back at the screen inquisitively. Giving a friendly frown and a smile she added, “I am Ambassador Frazier. If you are not here to escort us to Romulus, Commander Rhian, what is it exactly we can do for you?” Frazier could see instantly the rush of confusion that washed over the Romulan. Clearly he had been briefed that she was not technically an ambassador, but the question was, could she pull of the impression of one right now? If not, then how would she hope to manage in front of the Praetor? =^=Ambassador... Frazier, when your ship did not cross into Romulan territory at the appointed time we became concerned. It seemed he was very keen to understand more detail about their hull breech. Worst case scenario was that they thought they had been up to something untoward, and they respond aggressively. Either way, it was clear that he would not be appeased unless they provided him with some minor detail about what had happened. With that, she glanced up at Commander Lemar and gave him a slight nod of approval. Jonas had been watching Frazier out of the corner of his eye, waiting for some kind of reaction to the Romulan. He too felt that they wouldn’t be able to get rid of the Romulan if they didn’t provide him with some details, and when Frazier looked at him briefly and gave him the nod, he knew that he would have to say something. “There has been an accident onboard,” he started a little hesitantly, “However, despite our damage; we are more than capable to continue. Hopefully it’s enough.~ Frazier smiled and nodded in agreement toward the viewscreen. “Would you prefer we increased our speed, to make up the lost time? However, there are those who might see fit to delay your arrival even longer, if not permanently, so if you don't mind, we will escort you from this point forward=^= Jonas’s eyes narrowed as what he hoped wouldn’t happen, happened. “Very well” he stated, not altogether sure he had managed to hold back his reservations. As Bree listened to the commander’s response, she was appalled. ~Oh great, why don’t you just come out and tell him you don’t want him around!!~ With her best attempt at damage control she said, “What my esteemed commander means to say is, we’d be most grateful for your escort.” Jonas made a hand gesture toward Lieutenant Maraht, and the channel closed shortly after that, the viewscreen returning to the view of the warbird, flying at warp speed alongside them. “Well, that went well,” said Jonas, turning fully toward Brianna Frazier. Bree regarded him for a moment to see if he was being serious. “No thanks to you,” she started, then realised she was perhaps out of place to make such a suggestion, she added a friendly smile and a pat on the shoulder. “I think you need to brush up on your communication skills commander.” She turned to locate Lieutenant Tarus, he was standing ready over at the edge of the bridge. “Now, if I may take some time to myself?” Jonas was at a loss at how to take Frazier. So he simply nodded and said, “Of course.” With that, she left the bridge and Lieutenant Tarus went after her. They could have been there al along for all any of them knew, cloaked and watching them from a short distance away. Should they be any more or less vigilant now? No, very little had changed, and Jonas decided he was going to stick to his original plan. He wondered again how the Captain was doing. He was still waiting for a report on his progress from Sickbay, eager to know how soon the Captain would be back on his feet. And then there was his report to Starfleet Command. So far, the Romulans knew more about their situation than Command, and that just didn’t sit right with Jonas. He wasn’t a fool – he fully expected the Romulan Commander to have been on to his own Fleet Command with an update on their status. He only wondered what those wagging Romulan tongues would be saying, given that he had not confirmed or denied anything about the status of the Captain or the Ambassador. As Jonas allowed his gaze to shift from the main viewer, he eyes lay upon the new science officer. First day on the job and Jonas had already put him in command of a bridge station. That in itself could be a scary task for a green Ensign out of the academy, but after the past hour of mayhem, Jonas was keen to know what the new Ensign was thinking. ~No time like the present~ he thought, and he stood up from the command seat once more and said, “Ensign McKenzie, would you please join me in the ready room?” (reply: McKenzie) Jonas looked over his shoulder toward the tactical station, “Lieutenant Ammon, I want all passive scans we have available on that Warbird. I’ll need a tactical summary of its abilities, strengths and weaknesses for tomorrows briefing.” He had no doubt that the Tactical Chief was already working on that information – in fact he wouldn’t have been surprised if she was already working on counter manoeuvres and battle strategies should things turn sour. (reply: Ammon) Jonas glanced around the rest of the bridge briefly. Maraht and Guarastine we concentrating on their consoles, although Jonas had a feeling that everyone had been shaken a little by the sudden arrival of the IWS Donatra. Still, he was proud that they were professional enough to keep their opinions to themselves and do their jobs. Looking back to Lieutenant Ammon he finished by saying, “Very well. Lieutenant Kudrow should be arriving soon to take over gamma watch. Until then, you have the conn.” Jonas smiled at the tactical chief again, then turned and made his way toward the ready room. Ammon Ranae - 2200) Jonas sat in the command chair, wondering if the presences of the Romulan warship actually changed anything. They could have been there al along for all any of them knew, cloaked and watching them from a short distance away. Should they be any more or less vigilant now? No, very little had changed, and Jonas decided he was going to stick to his original plan. Like all the bridge officers, Ranae was always aware of whoever was in the command chair, unless she was in TIHS mode, so she saw the FO stand up and wondered where he was going or if he was just stretching. She soon found out which when he asked Ensign McKenzie to join him in the ready room. ~I hope he's not in trouble.~ Ranae thought, though it didn't seem logical for the man hadn't done anything wrong as far as the CTAC could tell. Jonas looked over his shoulder toward the tactical station, "Lieutenant Ammon, I want all passive scans we have available on that Warbird. I'll need a tactical summary of its abilities, strengths and weaknesses for tomorrows briefing." Lt. Ammon acknowledged the FO with an "aye, Sir." She smiled at him and added, "I've been researching all known data on that class also." She began relaying the more recent data her scans had brought her to a PADD, it looked like she'd be having a busy evening if she didn't get her task done while on duty, but at least she had the sprouting of ideas about battle strategies brewing in her mind. The FO briefly glanced around the rest of the bridge and then replied to the CTAC. "Very well. Lieutenant Kudrow should be arriving soon to take over gamma watch. Until then, you have the conn." he gave her a smile and she beamed back at him, thankful that he still had faith in her and quite happy to think that she would be getting off duty soon, or at least off the bridge. She would have to work on her presentation in quarters, because she really wanted to see Baylon, for a little while at least. Commander Lemar made his way toward the ready room with Ensign MacKenzie hot on his heels and stepping away from TAC 1, Ranae nodded to the Tactical officer who had previously taken over, to take over again. With PADD in hand, Ranae went to sit in the command chair again and began work on her presentation for the next day. As she read the scan results, Ranae found that the Valdore class was an impressive vessel, but like all ships it had it's weakness, she just had to find it and exploit it in the unlikely event the USS Hades had to combat the Donatra and/or any of it's sister ships. If you can get that done by 1200 tomorrow engineering and the quartermaster would be grateful. If you don't think you can make the deadline, let me know. I haven't had a chance to review files yet, but I need two volunteers to assist Security and Engineering with CSI. Anyone qualified?" "I would be happy to assist, Lt. Carrow. I had done some security work on my own home planet in assisting to set up the federation Embassy there. I am most interested myself to find out how this had all occurred and why," said Shayhiloosh with great curiosity. The Science Chief continued. "Once we've managed to get all this sorted out, we still have all that data to sort through and process. I've been looking over the lab request schedules, but since labs 2 and 6 are currently rubble, I've request secondary holosuite use. I suspect though, *every* department is going to be trying to use the holodecks for something, so we'll probably be in a holding pattern. Make do with what you can." Shayhiloosh nodded an eyestalk politely. S/he had heard the Chief of Security had lost his entire office and s/he figured if he could make do without an office then surely they could handle the situation well enough. A holosuite would be helpful if they could spare it. "Maybe the holosuite could be partitioned in half or by thirds by those needing it for administrative purposes, allowing its usefulness to be doubled or tripled," suggested Shayhiloosh. "I haven't had a chance to review much. I will confess I got a bit distracted recently," said Lt. Carrow, smilling ruefully. "But I would like the science merit contest to continue ASAP as well as the science classes. The faster we get things back to normal the better it'll be for the children." She sighed. "Though, I suspect, a lot of questions in the new few days from the children are going to be about the explosion. Explain and teach as best as able, technical side is good, try to avoid the emotional, I'd think." Shayhiloosh knew that Shureshlee had been very concerned for hir classmates, but neither Arborian had been able to ascertain their status in all the hubbub. But as Lt. Carrow was not speaking of casualties among the other children, then s/he would be happy to pass on that deficit of facts to hir own offspring. It would bring Shureshlee a great deal of comfort to know that Rosalind Winters was safe. At this point Shureshlee was more concerned for hir classmates than about the science project contest. Ardena smiled. "Since my office seems to be missing part of its outer bulkhead, Shayhiloosh has generously offered to share hir office." She gave the Arborian a fond smile. "Any questions or problems?" "I hope you will have enough room in my office, Lt. Carrow," said Shayhiloosh. She was ever so glad that someone had invented the turbolifts. If she had to do that much climbing every day she was certain she would have large thighs and biceps from the ordeal – not something that every woman would have classed as a bonus. As she entered sickbay, it was bustling a lot more that it had been when she had left. Many of the staff were still present, and each one was nurturing a patient in some form or another. At the first biobed, Wendy approached and placed a caring hand on the leg of the patient. “You can hardly see a scratch,” she assured the officer lying there, currently receiving a treatment with a dermal regenerator to a burn mark on his face. She flashed a smile at the nurse operating the device, then moved onwards into sickbay. She made her way through the action to where she noticed two more familiar faces, Devan Sash and Baylon Trinin. The Captain was only barely recognisable, stripped of his uniform and all manner of equipment attached to him in some way. Wendy wondered what his prognosis, and whether he would be on his feet in the near future. She resisted the urge to grab his chart and nose through the data. Wendy caught the eye of Denise Lebranski, who seemed stubbornly stuck to his side. The look on her face seemed to warn Wendy not to approach, and the last thing she wanted right now was for an argument, so she left her be. Moving away from the Captain’s bed, she saw Lieutenant Trinin, wrapped up in a blanket and propped up on an incline. ~Hypothermia?~ she thought to herself, noting the types of burns to his face, typically caused by frost and extreme cold temperatures. She glanced at his vital signs on the monitor and was glad to see that he was in the safe zone and slowly but surely getting better. As Wendy turned, she finally came to face Doctor Angeni O.Windsong-Trommashere. Wendy smiled and approached her, then put on her serious face and tapped the native-american doctor on the shoulder. “Isn’t it about time someone took a look at you?” She paused, giving Angeni a chance to notice she was there. “I think everyone has things under control here...” She tried to give one of those looks that would win Jonas over every time, the ‘You know I’m right so please don’t argue’ kind of look. (posted by Dave) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 10, Sickbay – Crewman Denise Lebranksi – 2213) Denise saw the latest doctor come in and peer at the Captain and herself. She gave her best "I'm not leaving!" look, the woman hurried on. Denise felt a little guilty at that, she didn't mean to make the woman feel unwelcomed or unwanted.. she was just very tired of hearing how she shouldn't be here. Well, where the hell else should she be? She wasn't injured, she wasn't damaged, and she was perfectly capable of taking dictation for report incidents from the conscious patients. The Captain would want the information. She eavesdropped without guilt, and thought ~They should both go to bed and get some sleep. Dr. Kildare should stop by the bridge, beat the first officer over the head and drag him off too.~ (Posted by Lorna) ===================================================================== (USS Hades – Deck 10, Sickbay – CMO Angeni O.Windsong-Trommashere – 2219) “Isn’t it about time someone took a look at you?” Angeni turned around slowly, smiling at the sight of Wendy. Finally, another person she knew who wasn't in the various stages of death and dying. "Eh...I should be okay...I think..." She allowed herself a little laugh. She was lucky that she could remember what time it was. “I think everyone has things under control here...” Angeni shrugged lightly, "Take it for what it's worth, I didn't want to even think about leaving until I got all those tubes out of the Captain. Not many are sure how to play with them, and they should becoming out any time now." She cast a glance around the room, her hand on her forehead. Never once did she actually think that her "antequated" toys would ever see the light of day unless she pulled them out for her own enjoyment. Oddly enough, everyone around her was using them effectively, as if they were a part of the normal routine of every day medicine; all the training really and truly did pay off. "I have to get a report to Lemar about the Captain. I also have to catch up with Counselor Nayati to give him a list of those crew members who passed away, so that the friends and families' names can be put in so that in case they need it, they can get counseling immediately...also so that empt crew spaces can be accounted for..." Angeni's eyelids fluttered slightly, and she swayed gently on her feet. She felt her heart skip a few beats, but she forced herself to open her eyes, even though her face had gone deathly pale. "But...I guess there's no harm in taking a quick look....as long as you don't need a once over yourself..."
